Frank Family Vineyard’s 2006 Napa Valley Zinfandel is a brilliant crimson color. The depth is showcased immediately with aromas of blackberry pie, dried cherries, pink peppercorns and a hint of lily of the valley. Continual richness emerges as layers of juicy raspberry, spiced pluot compote, and sweet smoky BBQ sauce are exposed. The palate is lavish and round; up front it is loaded with ripe briar berries and stone fruit, followed by a chewy richness where preserves and smoked meats are uncovered. This flavor montage is gracefully supported by a velvety tannic structure that provides subtle grip and outstanding length. 15 months maturation in 35% New French Oak and 65% once and twice filled French Oak Barrels.
