Lodi Zinfandel |
The Lodi Appellation has a classic Mediterranean climate featuring warm days and cool evenings. Situated directly east of the San Francisco Bay at the edge of the Sacramento River Delta, cool “delta breezes” provide a reliable natural air conditioning throughout the growing season. This climate allows Lodi growers to consistently produce delicious full-flavored wines that contain a refreshing natural acidity. Historically, Lodi vineyards were developed in the fine sandy loam soils surrounding the community of Lodi. It’s here along the banks of the Mokelumne River where the majority of Lodi’s century-old own-rooted Zinfandel vineyards lie. This area is noted for producing uniform and balanced grapes that deliver intense fruit-driven wines with a rich silky texture.
Lodi is the self-proclaimed Zinfandel Capital of the world producing over 40 percent of California’s premium Zinfandel. Many of the region’s most distinctive wines come from the thousands of acres of “old vines”- some dating back to the 1880s. Styles range from medium to full-bodied with intense red and black fruit flavors of cherries, raspberries, and blackberries.
Nestled between San Francisco Bay and the Sierra Nevada Mountains lies Lodi Wine Country, a region fast becoming one of California’s true wine stars. Home to over 80 wineries and 100,000 acres of winegrapes, Lodi Wine Country offers a rural atmosphere and relaxed pace for you to enjoy its beautiful vineyards and exquisite wines.
Lodi vines are tended by generations of farming families rooted to the land, yielding wines that are simply irresistible. They are full of flavor yet soft and supple on the palate- delicious on their own or the perfect companion to food.
Lodi hosts a number of exciting wine events throughout the year including Wine & Chocolate Weekend, ZinFest Wine Festival, Treasure Island WineFest and The First Sip!
