    LISBON
    Visit the ornate Belem Tower and Jeronimos Monastery and stroll the narrow, winding streets of the charming Alfama district. Enjoy marvelous old Sintra, a royal country retreat, and Caiscais, a beautiful seaside resort. Explore medieval Obidos or make a pilgrimage to Fatima where the Virgin Mary has appeared.

    Dining: Try some imaginatively prepared seafood like tender squid stuffed with olives, herbs, onions and rice or tasty pork, lamb or chicken and a delightful local wine.

    Shopping: Take home handmade beautiful handmade tiles, gold and silver filigree jewelry, embroidered items, pottery, crystal, trinket made of cork, lovely handmade dolls or exqusite handmade rugs.

    OPORTO
    Explore picturesque, historic Oporto and the Vila Nova de Gaia quarter, home of its famed port wine industry. Or discover Portugal's scenic countryside and visit Guimaraes with its impressive medieval castle and beautiful Braga with its Bom Jesus shrine and superb cathedral.

    Dining: Try a northern specialty - caldo verde, a soup of potatoes, shredded cabbage and smoked sausage, or appetizers including sheep's cheese, olives and smoked ham. Fish and pork top most menus, accompanied by port wine.

    Shopping: Look for gold and silver filigree jewelry, lovely azulejos tiles, porcelain, leather goods, needlepoint carpets and Madeiran lace and embroidery.

    BILBAO
    Discover the historic old quarter of lovely Gothic churches, gracious plazas and fascinating shops. Stroll along the vibrant riverside promenade and see the stunning Guggenheim Museum.

    Dining: Sample an array of tapas accompanied by excellent Rioja wines or regional dishes like spider crab and marmitako, a stew of tuna and potatoes.

    Shopping: Discover Basque crafts and fine enamelwork, ceramics, a leather wine bag for a picnic, high fashion clothing from Spanish designers or a finely crafted piece of furniture which you can have shipped home for you.

    LA CORUNA (Santiago DE Compostela)
    See the famed Tower of Hercules, the still working 2nd century Roman lighthouse and wander through this historic town of fine churches, old palaces, cobbled streets and unique fishermen's houses. Or spend the day in beautiful Santiago de Compostela, an important pilgrimage site renowned for its magnificent cathedral and superb architectural and cultural heritage.

    Dining: Try some hearty Galician soup, Serrano ham which rivals prosciutto, or fresh seafood accompanied by local wine.

    Shopping: Look for fine contemporary art, glass, ceramics, silver, jewelry and fashion.


  • BORDEAUX
    Enjoy the city’s visual feast of wonderful ornate buildings, broad avenues, marvelous squares and the Cathedral of St. André where Eleanor of Aquitaine married Louis VII. Stroll through Old Bordeaux. Then visit the area’s fabulous vineyards and magnificent châteaux and delight in tasting their superb wines.

    Dining: Indulge in a gourmet dinner at a château including a selection of superb wines.

    Shopping: Specialties here include foie gras, truffles, wine and chocolate as well as fine leather goods, pottery, and silk.



    LONDON (Southhampton)
    London calling! Your gateway is Southampton, the largest city and port on the south coast of England, about 1.5 hours drive to the capital city of England. Before venturing on to London, tour Southhampton, the historic byways of Old Town with its Medieval walls and Tudor architecture. Spend an hour or two meandering along the pathways of Royal Victoria Country Park, picturesquely set along the waterfront on the grounds of a former military hospital where Florence Nightingale once worked. Southampton's maritime past can be explored by strolling along the Town Quay with its marina and lively bars and restaurants. It was here that the Titanic departed on its fateful journey and where the Mayflower sailed for the New World. Immersed in history, London boasts significant antiquity and historic splendor (British Museum, Tower of London, Hampton Court and Westminster Abbey, to name a few). And, don’t forget the theater, Big Ben and the Piccadilly Square!

    Dining: These days London can convincingly argue it is the world’s culinary capital. Your choices abound from Borough Market or Harrod’s. Neighborhood finds, star chef spots, top-notch world cuisine of every imaginable type and even the food truck scene have all become a fixture throughout the City.

    Shopping: London has several distinct retail districts and shopping streets, many of which have their own themes or specialties. From luxury goods in Mayfair to quirky finds in Covent Garden to large shopping centers like Westfield, you can easily while away an hour, an afternoon or a whole day shopping in London.
