Knife Sharpening Demonstration
The most important tool in the kitchen is a sharp knife. But what is a sharp knife and how do you achieve a truly sharp edge? Learn how to properly sharpen Japanese and western style knives using traditional whetstones from Japan. Chef Tyler Stone not only has a passion for cooking but also for the finest handmade cutlery for which he relies on everyday. While cooking in New York City he had the opportunity to meet two of the best knife craftsmen from Sakai City, Osaka, Japan. After meeting these craftsmen Tyler began importing their knives to sell in the US. Last year in April he was invited to train with the master sharpener in Sakai and learned how to make knives from start to finish. Tyler likes to share his knowledge of knife sharpening with professionals and home cooks alike as most people are unaware of the proper techniques and traditional methods in use today. more information.
